The GiftCard is the newest gift solution from Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls in the UAE – Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Sharjah City Centre, Ajman City Centre and Mirdif City Centre. It is essentially a prepaid card issued by MAF-JCB – a joint venture between Majid Al Futtaim and Japan Credit Bureau (JCB). JCB is an established global payment brand that is accepted internationally.

The GiftCard can be used by recipients to buy what they want when they want from hundreds of stores at their favorite Majid Al Futtaim shopping mall:
- Mall of the Emirates GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Mall of the Emirates;
- Deira City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Deira City Centre;
- Sharjah City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Sharjah City Centre;
- Ajman City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Ajman City Centre;
- Mirdif City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Mirdif City Centre;
- For the Combined GiftCard – the GiftCard can be used in shops in Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Sharjah City Centre, Ajman City Centre and Mirdif City Centre.

The GiftCard makes for a more attractive gift than cash and, and a more secure one as well, in that the value can be replaced if lost or stolen (conditions apply).

You can purchase GiftCards at the main Customer Service Desks at Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Sharjah City Centre, Ajman City Centre and Mirdif City Centre.

Where can I use the GiftCard?     [Return to Gift Card FAQs]
The GiftCard is a JCB prepaid card that can be used to purchase products and services in participating shops in Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls as follows:
- Mall of the Emirates GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Mall of the Emirates;
- Deira City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Deira City Centre;
- Sharjah City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Sharjah City Centre;
- Ajman City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Ajman City Centre;
- Mirdif City Centre GiftCard – the GiftCard can only be used in shops in Mirdif City Centre;
- For the Combined GiftCard – the GiftCard can be used in shops in Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Sharjah City Centre, Ajman City Centre and Mirdif City Centre.

What makes the GiftCard different from City Centre and Mall of the Emirates gift vouchers?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Unlike the gift voucher which limits you to spend the entire value of the gift voucher only at one store, the GiftCard can be used to make purchases in multiple stores as long as there is value remaining on the GiftCard and it is still valid. Validity period is 12 months from purchase date and this is indicated on the pack. Check your GiftCard to see which Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) shopping malls it is accepted in.

Is the GiftCard a credit card?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
No, the GiftCard is a prepaid JCB card with the value of any amount you select between AED50 and AED3000. Each time the GiftCard is used the purchase amount is deducted from the available balance.

How much money can I put on a Giftcard?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
You can purchase GiftCards in any Dirham amount you choose from AED50 to AED3000.

Do I have to pay additional fees other than the load value when I purchase a GiftCard?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
An activation fee is chargeable for every GiftCard purchased. The fee is between AED 7 and AED 20 depending on the value you load onto the card. All fees are disclosed when the GiftCard is purchased.

Yes. The Giftcard can be a useful tool for managing your own budget.

What is my Security Code?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Your Security Code is a four-digit number printed on the inside of the GiftCard package. You'll need this Security Code to register your GiftCard online or get a balance inquiry by phone. Your Security Code verifies you as the receiver of the GiftCard and means that we can identify you on future calls/visits to the website. You will also be asked to change the given Security Code when you register your card online for security purposes. Please take care not to divulge this to anyone.

Why should I register my GiftCard online at www.mallgiftcard.ae?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Unless your GiftCard is registered on the website, it cannot be replaced if lost, damaged or stolen. If the GiftCard is not registered and you lose the GiftCard or it is stolen, you will lose any funds held on the GiftCard just as if you lost your wallet or purse. You’ll need 3 things to register your card online:
1. Your personal information – name, address, email, etc.
2. 16-digit GiftCard Number
3. 4-digit Security Code printed on the inside of the GiftCard package

If you are having trouble registering your GiftCard online, please contact the Customer Call Centre at 04 205 4000. Registration is not required to make retail purchases.

Do I need to activate my GiftCard?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
No, your GiftCard was activated when it was purchased at a Majid Al Futtaim mall.

How can I check my balance on the GiftCard?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
You can check your balance at anytime at www.mallgiftcard.ae or call 04 205 4000 (within UAE only). Checking your balance online is free of charge and checking your balance by phone has a fee of AED2.00, deductible from your GiftCard balance.

Can I use my GiftCard to withdraw cash at the ATM?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
No, you can't use your GiftCard at an ATM or do any cash advance transactions.

How many times can I use my GiftCard?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
It can be used until all of the credit on the GiftCard has been spent within the validity period. It doesn't have to be spent all at once.

What do I do when I have spent all my credit?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Once you've spent all the money on your GiftCard, simply cut the card in half and throw it away.

Can I use my GiftCard and another credit/debit card together to pay for a transaction?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Yes, as long as you know how much is left on your GiftCard. If you don't tell the cashier or merchant and try to make a purchase for more than the amount on the GiftCard, the transaction will be declined because you don't have enough money on your GiftCard to make the purchase.

Is there a limit to how much credit can be loaded on the GiftCard?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Yes. The minimum value that can be loaded is AED50 and the maximum value is AED3000. The amount is determined at the time of purchase, and once the credit is spent, it can't be re-loaded.

Does the gift recipient need to sign an agreement?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
No, the purchaser agrees to the terms and conditions of the GiftCard by purchasing the GiftCard. The key Terms and Conditions and Schedule of Fees are distributed with each GiftCard. The full Terms and Conditions regarding use of the GiftCard can be viewed on this website. The recipient accepts the Terms and Conditions by using the GiftCard.

GiftCard receivers can view their balance online free of charge on this website. Alternatively they can call 04 205 4000 (within UAE only). Checking your balance by phone has a fee of AED2.00

What if I need to return an item?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Returns are at the discretion of the merchant who sold you the item. Each merchant has its own return policies and will handle the returns in the same way as any other transaction. They may credit your GiftCard, provide a cash refund or a store credit.

What if a purchase is denied?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
This may happen if, for example, the GiftCard's available balance is less than the purchase amount. You may inform the merchant of the remaining balance on the GiftCard and use another form of payment to pay the difference (subject to the policy of the merchant).

Does the GiftCard have an expiry date?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
Yes. It expires 12 months from the purchase date, as indicated on the back of the GiftCard package.

Can I reload my GiftCard?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
No, the card can't be reloaded, but you can purchase another card at Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre, Sharjah City Centre, Ajman City Centre and Mirdif City Centre.

Can a GiftCard be given to someone else, other than the original recipient?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
To help eliminate fraud the person using the GiftCard must be the person whose signature is on the back of the GiftCard.

What happens if there are still funds on my GiftCard when it expires?    [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
We encourage you to use the entire gift amount before the GiftCard expires. Upon the expiry on month 12, the GiftCard will become invalid for use. If you do not contact us for GiftCard Replacement and Reactivation prior to the end of month 13, you will be charged a GiftCard Account Maintenance Fee of AED20.00 per month, deductible from the remaining amount on the GiftCard. The same shall apply at the end of months 14 and 15.

If you contact us prior to the end of month 13 for GiftCard Replacement and Reactivation, and provided your GiftCard holds funds of at least AED 20, you will be provided with a new GiftCard and your funds will be transferred to this new GiftCard less AED 10 as a GiftCard Replacement and Reactivation fee. The same shall apply at the end of months 14 and 15.

After month 15, the GiftCard shall be invalid, cannot be reactivated and all amounts remaining on the GiftCard will be forfeited for the benefit of the Issuer.

What happens if my GiftCard is lost or stolen?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
You must call 04 205 4000 (within UAE only) or send an email to loststolencard@maf.ae as soon as you think your GiftCard has been lost or stolen, to cancel it. Provided you have previously registered your GiftCard with your name and address, we will work on your request then cancel your GiftCard and if the GiftCard holds funds of up to at least AED 10, we will replace it with a new GiftCard. Any balance then remaining will be transferred to the new GiftCard. We will reissue only after a period of up to 15 business days following your request to ensure that we have received details of all transactions up to cancellation. A GiftCard replacement fee of AED10 will be deducted from the balance.

COMBINED GIFTCARD ADDITIONAL FAQs

Can I reload the Combined GiftCard if I am a company supplying the GiftCards to my staff or customers?

The Combined GiftCard can be can only be reloaded by the corporate purchaser of the GiftCard. No individual that purchases or has a GiftCard can reload it.

Are the other GiftCards reloadable?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
No. Only the combined GiftCard is reloadable and only corporate purchasers can reload it. No individual that purchases or has a GiftCard can reload a GiftCard.

How can corporate purchasers reload the Combined GiftCard?      [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
To add additional value to the Combined GiftCard, the corporate purchaser must do the following:
1. Contact Majid Al Futtaim by email on reloadgiftcards@maf.ae
2. Supply copy of business trade license to validate identity of business
3. Credit money to the nominated account to cover the value of the funds being loaded to the GiftCards
4. Email a spreadsheet detailing the GiftCard card numbers and the values to be loaded to the respective GiftCards
5. Once funds are cleared and verified then money will be credited to the nominated cards less the Reload Fee

What are the fees to reload the Combined GiftCard if I am a company supplying the GiftCards to my staff or customers?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
A flat fee of AED 3.00 applies for every GiftCard that is reloaded.

What are the limits on reload values and maximum card balances?     [Return to GiftCard FAQs]
The reload value must be between a minimum of AED50 and a maximum of AED3000 per card. A GiftCard may have a maximum balance of AED3,000. A reload value that will exceed the maximum balance on the card will not be credited to the GiftCard.
